For those who fondly remember the days of BlackBerry and its iconic physical keyboard, the Unihertz Titan 2 is here as a stylish and rugged nod to that era—with all the modern bells and whistles expected in 2025.
Slimmer, Lighter, Yet Rugged
The original Unihertz Titan was known as a hefty, durable smartphone, built to withstand tough environments. The Titan 2 refines this formula, trimming down from 16.65mm thick to a much more manageable 10.85mm, and shedding over 60 grams to weigh in at 235g. This makes the Titan 2 far more comfortable to carry and use without compromising on durability.

Distinctive Displays and a Premium Typing Experience
The front of the Titan 2 features a nearly square 4.5-inch display with a sharp 1440 x 1440 resolution, reminiscent of the classic BlackBerry Passport shape. Adding a futuristic twist, it sports a secondary 2-inch display on the back, useful for notifications or selfies taken with the main cameras. Beneath the main screen lies a full-width backlit physical keyboard designed to offer a comfortable, reliable, and versatile tactile typing experience. Advanced features like customizable shortcuts and gesture controls allow users to scroll or move the cursor with a swipe of a finger.
Powerful Internals for Modern Performance
Under the hood, the Titan 2 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 SoC paired with 12GB RAM and a substantial 512GB of storage, a significant upgrade over its predecessor. While it’s not a flagship chipset, it delivers smooth and efficient performance suitable for multitasking and everyday demands.
Battery and Charging
The battery capacity is slightly smaller than the original, packing a 5,050mAh cell compared to 6,000mAh in the first Titan. However, it now supports 33W wired fast charging, allowing for quicker top-ups to keep up with busy days.
Advanced Features and Connectivity
In addition to 5G connectivity, the Titan 2 includes an infrared port, dual-band GPS, NFC for contactless payments, Bluetooth 5.4, fingerprint and facial recognition for security, and an FM radio. The side-mounted programmable buttons are also present, giving quick access to preferred apps and shortcuts.
Camera Upgrades
The phone features a dual rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor and an 8MP telephoto lens, alongside a 32MP front camera designed for high-quality selfies and video calls. Camera performance has been improved over the original, addressing a previous weak point.
Availability and Pricing
After surpassing its Kickstarter goal by more than eight times, the Titan 2 is expected to start shipping around October 2025. Pricing is anticipated to remain around R9000 in South Africa.
If a rugged, reliable, and nostalgic smartphone with a physical keyboard sounds appealing, the Unihertz Titan 2 is a compelling option for 2025. For more information and to purchase the Titan 2 in South Africa, visit Unihertz South Africa.
