I compared the SHARK 3 and TANK 4 Pro side by side before buying. Same Dimensity 8300 chip, same 11600mAh battery, same 120W charging — but the SHARK is 470g vs 530g and costs less. If you do not need a projector, this is the smarter buy. 3K AMOLED is stunning and the DP output means I can plug into any monitor. Best rugged phone I have owned.
The 120W charging is genuinely fast. Flat to full in under an hour. For someone who forgets to charge overnight, this is a lifesaver. The AMOLED screen is beautiful, the camera system with night vision is excellent, and the build quality is the best in this price range. The USB-C DP output for connecting to TVs or monitors is a brilliant bonus feature.
I manage procurement for a construction company. We have ordered 8 SHARK 3 units over the past 4 months. Zero failures, zero complaints. The rugged build handles site conditions easily, the battery lasts our teams a full week, and the DP output means engineers can connect to site office monitors directly. Excellent value for what you get.
The 64MP night vision camera on the SHARK 3 is genuinely impressive in low light conditions. I manage a security operation in KZN and use it for site documentation at night. The main 50MP camera is also excellent during the day. Battery lasts 5 full days of moderate use. Very solid choice.
The 3K AMOLED screen on the SHARK 3 competes with top-tier flagship displays. Deep blacks, vivid colours, and 120Hz smoothness. For a rugged phone this is remarkable — most rugged phones use LCD panels. Battery easily lasts 4 days. The 120W fast charge fills it in an hour. A genuinely premium rugged experience.
Bought this after my TANK 4 Pro was stolen. The SHARK 3 has the same chip and battery but is noticeably lighter and less bulky. I miss the projector occasionally but the SHARK is easier to carry daily. Camera is excellent and the fast charging is brilliant. A proper daily driver that can survive anything.
I use this heavily — constant GPS navigation, calls, and Teams meetings from the road. 5 days on a single charge without trying to save battery. The DP output is useful when I need to present from my phone at client offices. Only downside is 22.5mm thickness makes it noticeable in a pocket.
The specs are outstanding and the camera system is impressive. My only issue is the 470g weight feels significant in a jacket pocket for everyday use. That said, the build quality gives real confidence, the battery is the best I have had, and the screen is beautiful. A compromise worth making for the right person.
